Crowns (called caps sometimes) can be used to restore fractured or badly decayed teeth. The defective area is removed and built up with a core material. The tooth is shaped, impressions are made, and a dental laboratory fabricates your new crown while you wear a provisional cap. At the second appointment, the provisional crown is replaced with a beautiful custom fitted crown that is cemented into place. The crown protects and strengthens the tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.
Bridges are crowns used to replace one or more missing teeth, by spanning the space where the teeth are missing. Bridges allow us to use the natural teeth or implant surrounding the gap as anchors to replace the missing teeth and restore your appearance and function.
